and speed of group may require a four-second interval.

3. All rides to be led by BDMC Road Captain or as designated by President

4. Sgt At Arms will conduct a full Pre-Ride Briefing, as per the BDMC Pre-Ride Briefing card.

5. New riders, and new members riding with the club for the first time, shall ride at the rear of the

last group in front of the sweep road captain.

What You Can Expect On A BDMC Club Ride

1. Communication. On' every club ride you will receive an email or text notification on the planned logistics for the ride to include destination, route of travel, meeting place, time of departure, and approximate time to

complete the ride.

2. Pre-ride Briefing. Each ride will begin with a pre-ride briefing outlining the items listed above plus

riding formation, approximate speed of travel, hand signals to be used and any other information to make

your ride safe and enjoyable.

3. New Riders/New to BDMC. If you're new to riding, new to group riding or simply new to BDMC, we encourage

you to ride in the back of the group. All groups have different riding characteristics and we want to make sure that you

learn how we ride. Each group will have a "sweep" rider who will be there for you in case of emergencies, bike failure

and to ensure that you won't get left behind. Besides, riding in the back is fun!

4. Speed. Our rides are not races. All traffic and speed laws are observed. If, however, normal posted speeds are

difficult for you to maintain, you may want to consider additional riding time before joining a sanctioned club ride.

5. Intermediate Stops. We acknowledge that all bikes and bladders are different and plan stops along the way. We

encourage you to stretch, hydrate and visit with other members. We would ask, however, that you understand that we

are on a ride, usually with a restaurant reservation at the end of the ride. Refuel, refresh and get ready to continue the

ride. You will not be left behind!

6. Ending Rides. Sanctioned club rides end at the location. Your travel home can either be on your own, a different

route, or riding back with other members.

7. Safety. Safety is the ultimate concern of all the Road Captains. Should a Road Captain speak with you

regarding your bike's condition or riding habits that may affect the safety of the group, please take the

feedback constructively. The Road Captains are not the BDMC police. They are

excellent riders with many miles and riding experiences to share. They also

give their time freely to make sure that all club members have an enjoyable safe experience.

So, come ride with us! You'll have the time of your life, meet new friends while putting your "bike

Investment" to use as it was intended. I look forward to seeing all of you on the road!
